Candy Spurzem

Originally from Northern Minnesota, Candy has been dabbling in the arts since her high chair days. It wasn’t until a Fused Glass class at the Mississippi Craft Center that she found “home” with glass. Her prior experiences with painting, sculpture, welding and knitting and passion for color all become fused into each of her works. Candy draws inspiration from colors and shapes around us and thrives on adding unexpected twists and turns. You’ll find her work has just enough whimsy to keep things from getting too serious and a touch of imperfection as a nod to the ever-changing adventure of being human.

In 2014, Candy was one of two artists selected to create the Christmas gifts given by the Governor and Mrs. Bryant.

Candy holds both a Master’s Degree and her Doctorate as a Cornhusker from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Her undergraduate degree was earned as a Cobber at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.

In addition to holding degrees from the most corn-related schools possible, she has taught elementary school, served as a school principal and continues to serve as an adjunct professor and subject matter expert for Purdue Global University.

She has served on various boards and charitable organizations: 2018 International Ballet Competition, The Cancer League of Jackson, The American Heart Association, The Children’s Museum of Omaha and Countryside Community Church, to name a few.

As a proud member of the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi, she resides in the Metro Jackson Area with her husband.
