- Mary
Buckley and her husband, Bill, live in Canton, Mississippi. The
parents of three grown children with two grandchildren, both are
ministers. Mary is a Chaplain working with Oncology patients at
the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.
- Mary is a
self-taught artist. Her college study gave her a degree in Piano
Education, and she served in Church Music Ministry for many
years. Her mother, Anne Parker, who was a well-respected artist
and art teacher in the Jackson area, influenced Mary since
childhood in the area of art.
- After
enjoying her years at home raising her children, Mary began to
develop an interest in pursuing art as a second hobby. She soon
discovered a great love and latent talent, which progressed
quickly with the help of private instruction from her mother, and
many hours spent pouring over art books. She works primarily in
watercolors and acrylics.
- Mary’s
work has become more and more recognized, and has found a place in
many homes in the area. She contributes work regularly to
charities such as Candlelighter’s in Jackson, Ms. She is
currently serving as president of the newly formed Artist’s and
Craftsmen of Allison Wells, which is an art colony in Canton, Ms.
Her work is found at the Market Gallery, and Davidson’s Corner
Market in Canton, Ms, and also Southern Breeze Art Gallery, in
Jackson, Ms.
- She is
enjoying the process of growing as an artist, and is excited about
the adventure ahead.
