Back to Cathy Artist Roster Cathy Crockett - oils/pastels |
|
Since
receiving her BAE from the University of Mississippi and her MA from
Mississippi College, Mrs. Crockett has worked extensively and
successfully at her calling, having numerous solo exhibitions, group
exhibitions and juried shows. Proficient
in several media including oils and pastels, she is a member of the
Degas Pastel Society of New Orleans, LA and has studied with Bob
Tompkins and Lucy Mazzefero, among others. Mrs.
Crockett states, “My work is both realistic and impressionistic.
I am a colorist at heart, especially with my landscapes. My
paintings have become more and more impressionistic in the last few
years. I approach each composition by trying to set my values up
immediately. Then, I look for the hidden colors. The last emphasis
is on the correct light reflections. I am always fascinated by how
light and color play off of each other in nature.” Cathy has consistently donated paintings to charitable causes including Easter Seals, Candlelighters, the Jackson Symphony, Hearts Against AIDS, Diabetes Society and with her husband Mr. Tom Crockett worked for years with Mississippi Methodist Rehabilitation Center and Goodwill Industries in their Art Competition for People With Disabilities. Mrs. Crockett was chosen as the 2002-featured artist for both “Art for Heart” and “Southern Christian Children’s Society”. |
