A native Mississippian, B. J. Chatham received her B.S. from Mississippi University for Women (formerly MSCW) in 1950.  She continued her studies at the High Museum School of Art, Atlanta, GA with Paul Penezner in Memphis, TN, the Memphis Academy of Art, did graduate studies at Delta State University and continued work on her Master of Fine Arts at Mississippi State University.

Mrs. Chatham has been accepted in and won numerous awards in juried exhibitions throughout Mississippi and beyond.  "Best of Show" and "1st Place" are recurring titles in her extensive resume.

Married in 1950 to Reverend J.W. Chatham, Jr. they have five children and (at last count) six grandchildren.  The Chatham's retired to Mississippi City where B. J. continues to paint in oils and watercolors.
