 Mixed Media / Multiple Originals

H. C. Porter's original works of art
are classified as mixed media; utilizing painting,
printmaking and photography. They begin with a black and white
photograph taken by the artist. She then transfers the
photographic image onto paper with black ink using a
silkscreen. This is the printmaking step. The piece is
completed using acrylic paint and prisma color pencils to add color
and detail.
Although classified as mixed media
originals, it is important to understand that these paintings are multiple
originals. Each piece is a uniquely hand painted
one-of-a-kind. However, the same image is available more than
once. The base silk-screened image is initially printed 5-20
times at the artist's discretion. These high contrast black
ink images are then archived, awaiting their completion.
Serigraphs

Once an H.C. Porter mixed media image
is sold out, one of the original images may be recreated as a limited
edition serigraph (a handmade fine art print produced using the screen
printing process). Because each print is hand-made, and not a
secondary piece to a preexisting image, they are considered
original prints. In contrast to the multiple original mixed media
paintings, each serigraph in the edition looks the same, is signed and
numbered by the artist.
