Bio

Becky Barnett

      Born in California, Becky has been a native of Mississippi for the past 37 years. She began her art career as an accomplished graphic artist and illustrator but chose to concentrate on her painting career for the past 14 years. Becky began her studies of fine art and painting at The Art Institute of Houston then Belhaven College. She finished her undergraduate studies at Mississippi College in 2004. She received her Master of Fine Art degree from Mississippi College in 2007 with a painting emphasis and is currently instructing art at three Mississippi universities. Oil is her medium of choice at present.

      The majority of her work focuses on figurative scenes striving to revive the masters vitality of the human figure. Her portfolio also includes portraits, still life, architecture and landscape. Becky has also enjoyed success with acrylics, watercolors, inks, and pastels and is an aggressive painter spending 20 to 30 hours a week in her studio, painting on location or gathering reference photos. She enjoys studying the traditional painting styles of the masters to influence her current figurative scenes.

      Becky has a successful career as a fine artist and studio professor and her works have already been included in several local galleries. Southern Breeze is currently showing Becky's work.  She has also participated in several auctions over the past six years including The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Candlelighters and can also be found in extensive private and corporate collections.
