NEW WORKS BY
PAT WALKER-FIELDS
Southern Breeze Gallery invites the public to a reception featuring oil painter Pat Walker-Fields Sunday, April 9, 2006 from 1:30pm – 4:30pm. Pat is sought after for her traditional still lifes, figures and landscapes. Extremely representational and classically painted, her oils exhibit a rare talent and are an asset to any collection. “I want to carry the viewer into the painting with the beauty of light,” says Pat, “but leave enough mystery to allow the viewer’s heart to feel something in their imagination.” Pat’s exploration of light with its extreme use of light and dark is reminiscent of Rembrandt’s use of chiaroscuro. Her surfaces are lively and sensual imbuing the painting with a tactile quality and warmth much greater than the individual elements. “I work to manipulate elements in still life, portraits and landscapes,” says Pat, “to create mystery and emotion. I feel the emotion in my artwork is felt by the viewer.” Pat was one of our Gulf Coast artists who was displaced and lost everything with Katrina. She and many other artists are struggling to put their lives back together. To offer assistance to the artists affected by Katrina visit the Mississippi State Art Commission site at http://msartscommission.blogspot.com/. The public is invited to meet Pat Walker-Fields at a reception in her honor Sunday, April 9, from 1:30 until 4:30 at Southern Breeze Gallery. Southern Breeze Gallery is conveniently located in Jackson at 4500 I-55 North in Highland Village near Talbot’s and the new Lady Scott location. The Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and by appointment. For more information call 601-982-4222 or visit the web site at www.southernbreeze.net.
